ALF Checklist 1.1

The Acute Liver Failure Checklist app, developed by the NIH-funded Acute Liver Failure Study Group, serves as a clinical support tool for healthcare professionals managing patients with this complex condition. Since its inception in 1998, the group has enrolled over 2,000 patients to enhance understanding and treatment of acute liver failure.

Designed specifically for use in the intensive care setting, the app focuses on patients experiencing acute liver failure characterized by coagulopathy and hepatic encephalopathy—clinical markers that denote severe hepatic dysfunction with neurological implications.

The primary objectives of the checklist include: 1) standardizing and improving clinical management protocols, 2) enhancing diagnostic accuracy, and 3) ultimately contributing to improved patient survival rates.
